Stephen Curry Glorifies God After Warriors Sweep New Orleans Pelicans in Round 1 of NBA Playoffs.

Stephen Curry, the Golden State Warriors point guard, and his team advanced to the second round of the 2015 NBA playoffs recently and the avid Christian athlete made sure to glorify God after accomplishing the feat.

Curry, 27, scored 39 points with nine assists and eight rebounds as his team proved why they lead the Western Conference by sweeping the New Orleans Pelicans to advance to the second round of the playoffs. The Christian athlete took to Twitter to let it be known that his team worked hard to get past the first round of the playoffs, while recognizing God in the moment.

"Step 1 accomplished! Had to fight every night but proud of the way we stepped up," Curry tweeted. "God is Great! Let's go home and regroup."

Although the Warriors bested the Pelicans in Game 4 Saturday with a score of 109-98, they did let go of a 24-point lead in the fourth quarter, where they wound up only leading by 10 with six minutes left in the game. After beating the Pelicans in overtime during Game 3, Curry made it clear that the New Orleans team was not an easy opponent.
"Any time you can come into a series against a talented team like they have and you win four straight, that's tough to do against anybody," Curry said in a San Jose Mercury News report after his team's big win. "So I'm proud of the way we played, the way we competed, and 4-0 is a good feeling."

While the NBA All-Star is advancing with his team through the playoffs, he knows what it is like to struggle. Curry has had to deal with injuries during his basketball career, and he previously admitted that the tough times have brought him closer to Christ.

Now, he uses the platform that he has to glorify God in different ways, including pointing upwards after making big plays.
"I try to use every game as an opportunity to witness. I try to do a little signal every time I make a shot as a way to preach the message in little ways that I can," Curry revealed to Active Faith sports brand earlier this year. "Each game is an opportunity to be on a great stage and be a witness for Christ. When I step on the floor, people should know who I represent, who I believe in."

'Mann & Wife' Stars David And Tamela Mann Talk God's Favor When Celebrating 27 Years Of Marriage.

David and Tamela Mann are giving the world a glimpse of what is like to celebrate 27 years of marriage in a God centered union.
After starring in the BET docu-series "It's A Mann's World," the number one TBS sitcom, "Meet The Browns," along with a number of successful Tyler Perry plays and films, the Manns are currently appearing on the new Bounce TV series, "Mann & Wife."
David Mann recently took to Instagram to share loving words about his powerhouse singer wife while glorifying God for the world to see.
"27 years ago today I married the most incredible woman on earth. When I found her I found a GOOD THING and now I truly have favor with God," David wrote on the pair's joint Instagram account. "Forever with you just doesn't seem long enough but I promise I'm going to make the best of our time together I Love you Tamela Mann. #mannandwife #mannsworld."
When speaking to The Christian Post earlier this year, Tamela recalled once praying to marry a man that would share in her interests. God blessed her with just that.
The couple said it would be "weird" not to work together after helping each other on each step of their journey in the entertainment industry.
"I wanted to marry someone that enjoyed and did the same things that I've done. We've built it all together and that's really been a great blessing for us," Tamela previously told CP. "I'm still enjoying my life and marriage. And it's not a put on, we just sit around day-to-day enjoying each other's company without all the hooplah."
After 26 years of marriage, the pair finishes each others' sentences in interviews and find ways to make one another laugh even while working. While they speak about genuinely enjoying each other's company on and off of the red carpet, David insists he does not have to work on balancing his family since he makes them a priority.
"In this industry there's something that we never balance and that's our marriage and our family. There's our marriage and family, then the industry," David revealed to CP. "We never give anything the same weight that we give our marriage and family because any time you balance something, you give it weight to balance it. Our marriage, our family, our relationship far outweighs anything we'll do in this industry or in this business.
Catch David and Tamela Mann on Bounce TV's "Mann & Wife" Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET.

To My Gay Brothers and Sisters: God Wants to Give You Something Better Than a Homosexual Lifestyle BY MATT MOORE

What God Doesn't Command:
Like most of the gay community, I used to equate becoming a Christian with becoming straight. From my perspective, based on everything that I'd heard from the church, to follow Jesus was to pray the gay away, snatch up a wife, pop out a few kids and live a quaint Republican life in the land of suburbia.
But I'd tried that for years – the whole pray the gay away thing – and to no avail. In high school I went through a church-going spurt. Every Wednesday night I'd walk into that sanctuary and close my eyes and raise my hands and get swept up into an emotional experience, guided by the soft music and dimming lights. Prayers for straightness shot straight from my heart up to the God I believed to be all-powerful. Week after week, I sung and wept and prayed.
It didn't work.
So I get it. To the gay or lesbian person perhaps begrudgingly reading this blog, I get it. I understand why you may be hesitant to look into Christianity because you doubt you could ever be able to feel legitimate, unforced, naturally flowing heterosexual desire for someone of the opposite gender. And if you've never heard this before, I want you to hear it from me today: Jesus does not require to you be heterosexual to follow him.

What God Does Command:
Now, following Christ does necessitate a reorientation in our disposition toward the sin that indwells us. The Bible is unapologetically clear that homosexual behavior is sinful and therefore if a same-sex attracted person wants to be a Christian they must deny their ungodly same-sex desires – just as all Christians have to deny a wide variety of ungodly desires. But following Christ does not mean that same-sex desires, or any other sinful desires common to all mankind, will disappear while we still dwell in fallen bodies. In the age to come, when the fullness of Christ's redeeming work is applied to us and we receive glorified bodies, all of our sinful inclinations will be forever vanquished. But until then, Christians will continue to wrestle with the remaining sin that indwells them.
You might say, "So, Matt. You're saying that Jesus knows I didn't choose these feelings and he doesn't call me to be straight – that's great. But you're basically telling me he's calling me to not act out on my homosexual desires and just be celibate, instead? That doesn't sound like a much better option…"

Yes, that's basically what I'm saying. Romance and sex are only to be enjoyed in the context of a one man + one woman relationship and if that isn't possible for someone, the only other biblical option is singleness and celibacy. Personally, my sexuality is still 99.999999% homosexual and because of that, I have embraced singleness and celibacy for most of the past five years. And I'm fully aware that this may be the state of my life for the rest of my life.

You might respond to that with, "But Matt, even the Bible you believe in says it's not good for man to be alone" – and I would totally agree. It surely does say that. But why do people automatically equate singleness with loneliness? I have been single since 2010, yet I am far from alone. If there were ever a faith with a solid family dynamic designed into it, Christianity is it. I have felt less lonely and more embraced by others as a single Christian than I ever did as a dating non-Christian. Same-sex attracted person, if you decide to follow Jesus and obey his command to do that alongside a local church, you will not be alone. You will sleep alone, do laundry alone, and sometimes eat alone – but you will not be truly alone. If you will give yourself to the life of a local body of believers, God's will provide Christians for you right and left to "do life" with.

You may also say, "But Matt, if I come follow Christ and never develop heterosexual feelings, I may never have sex again…" That's true, as well. But contrary to what our sex-crazed culture teaches us, sex is not a necessary component to living a full, healthy, and satisfied life. Life without sex is challenging, yes. I'm not going to pretend that some days aren't extremely difficult. But when push comes to shove, I can do without it. Lots of people throughout history have done without it – including Jesus. And to add, this current world and system in which we live is temporary. The renewed, perfect world that will be ushered in by King Jesus will be the lasting and eternal world and in that place there will be no marriage . . . and consequently, no sex. Sex is an incredible gift if practiced within biblical parameters, but at the end of the day it is a temporary reality. The day we die or the day Jesus returns – whichever comes first – will be the last day any of us will ever desire sex. So I urge you, same-sex attracted person, live for something bigger than sex.

The Gift of God:
So why do it? Why follow Jesus when it costs so much? Why believe in a God who would demand that we sacrifice to such a degree? There are factions in western church culture where monogamous homosexual relationships are affirmed. Why not just embrace their revisionist theology and have it all – God and a gay relationship?

The answer is pretty simple: being in relationship with the true, living God of the Bible through his Son, Jesus Christ, is what you're made for. You aren't designed to find your sense of fulfillment or identity or purpose in anything or anyone else but God, himself. Your life is utterly broken – whether you want to admit it or not – because you've willfully separated yourself from the only Source that brings wholeness and fullness to the human life. You are designed to find yourself, complete yourself, and lose yourself in God. Knowing him is the ultimately satisfying life. You may legitimately feel, in your hard heartedness and unbelief, that true satisfaction is found elsewhere. But I promise you that it's not. It is found in the very Person that you've been avoiding.

God wants to give same-sex attracted people what they need most and will enjoy most and that is not romance or heterosexuality, but God. God wants to give us God. The whole reason God the Son came to into our world to live and die in our stead was not merely to save us from hell, but to grant us the invaluable gift of knowing God. When we trust in person and redeeming work of Jesus and are cleared of the rightful condemnation that hangs over our heads, God's Spirit immediately begins to work in the deadness of our souls to enable us to begin to see and feel the all-satisfying beauty that God is. The Christian life can probably best be described, in my opinion, as a relentless and pleasurable chase after the person of God – empowered by the Spirit of God – that leaves us both deeply satisfied and yearning for more. We will chase after him, seeing more and more and more of his beauty and glory and awesomeness, for all of eternity. This may sound "boring" to the person that's yet to experience the life of God, but take my word for it: there is nothing more exhilarating than being in genuine relationship with the true God through Jesus Christ. And that, my friends, is exactly what he wants to give you. God wants to give you Himself. Will you let Him?

"This is the love of God: doing everything necessary, most painfully in the death of his Son, to enthrall us with what is most deeply and durably satisfying—namely, himself." – John Piper

Manny Pacquiao Fights for 'God' and 'His Country;' Boxer Talks Mayweather Match, Sinful Past and Bringing Change to the Philippines (Exclusive)

After their gloves touch, the bell rings and the dust settles on May 2, the world may be able to end the debate surrounding Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather Jr. being the best boxer of their era. Yet, Pacquiao is fighting for so much more than bragging rights or the largest payout any pugilist has ever seen.

The 36-year-old Filipino politician is fighting the good fight of faith, that is outlined in 1 Timothy 6:12. When all is said and done and the bout between he and Mayweather reaches its last round, Pacquiao told The Christian Post he hopes people recognize that he did his best even if his back was against the ropes.

"I want to please the Lord, my family, and my fans with this fight," Pacquiao told The Christian Post. "I want them to know I fought for God and my country, to bring them honor and glory."

Even though he may wear his Christian faith on his sleeve, Pacquiao has no problem strapping on his boxing gloves as someone who has been fighting professionally since the age of 16. By 2010, a buzz began heavily circulating about Pacquiao and Mayweather Jr. facing one another in the ring after both bested big names including Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton and Juan Manuel Márquez.
Since 2007, Pacquiao and Mayweather have been the only two fighters to be voted by ESPN fans as Best Fighter at the ESPY Awards. While Mayweather has received the honor six times since 2007, Pacquiao has been the one fighter that interrupted a potentially perfect seven year reign after winning in 2009 and 2011.

With an unblemished record, 47 fighters have fallen at the hands of Mayweather. Still, Pacquiao has been recognized by sports pundits and fans as someone who could potentially mar Mayweather's perfect record by handing him his first loss.

For five years, fans heard countless excuses for why the two biggest names in boxing would not face one another in the ring. Now that the fight has been officially scheduled, it is hard to ignore the magnitude of this fight and what it could mean for the careers of both men and the history of boxing.
While the Filipino fighter will not readily admit that he is doing a great deal to mentally separate this fight from others in terms of preparation, he told The Christian Post that he is giving the fight extra attention.

"I prepare mentally the same as I do with all of my other fights," Pacquiao told CP. "I think I'm training for this fight with a little more focus," Pacquiao told The Christian Post. "Spiritually, I pray for myself and also for my opponent."

To simply label Pacquiao as a boxer would be a disservice to the Evangelical Christian athlete who once moonlighted as a basketball player in the semi-professional basketball league, Liga Pilipinas, released two albums as a singer and has been a dedicated politician in his country.
Pacquiao has been working tirelessly to bring change to the Philippines and was elected to the Philippine House of Representatives at the age of 32. Yahoo! Sports recently dubbed the fanfare taking place in the country as "Pacmania" as shirts, postage stamps, dolls and other paraphenelia are circulating the fighter's homeland.

His documentary is playing in various Filipino movie theaters as the building of his church, school and community center in General Santos City is being constructed. In the way Pacquiao's fellow countrymen have hope that he will be victorious in the "fight of the century" the husband and father has a vision for his people.

"I want to provide opportunities for my fellow countrymen that will improve their situations. As a politician, I want to help create jobs so that I can bring them out of their poverty," Pacquiao revealed to CP. "I want to give them hope. Boxing has been my passion, but public service is my calling."
The boxer wants to use the platform that his passion provides to be a champion of his faith, regardless of the outcome of his fights.

"I think every Christian athlete should be open about their relationship with the Lord, as well as every believer. That is what the Bible commands," Pacquiao told CP. "When I am vocal to others about my faith and my hope of eternal life, it helps those fans of mine and those who watch me to know they can also have a hope."

People familiar with Pacquiao have heard him speak about his Christian faith in countless interviews since 2012, but the athlete will readily admit that he once let his success get the best of him. He had issues with drinking, gambling and being a womanizer, Pacquiao previously told ESPN.
He opened up about the reason he decided to change his life and really pursue Christ.
"I realized the way of sin was leading me in the wrong direction, not only in this life, but eternally. I realized I had a need," Pacquiao told CP. "I came to the point where I realized that need was the Lord Jesus Christ. I put my faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ."

That faith is what has carried Pacquiao through gut wrenching defeats like those that occurred at the hands of Timothy Bradley and Juan Manuel Marquez in 2012.
"As a Christian, some of my greatest times of growth are in the times of defeat," he told CP. "I take great comfort from my faith."

Win or lose, Pacquiao said he is thankful to all of his supporters and those who have been praying for him. Although he is not anticipating a loss to Mayweather on May 2, the politician and boxer with a record of 57-5-2 and 38 KOs knows that the outcome of "the fight of the century" will not determine the change he hopes to make in the world.
"I love my boxing, but I realize now that is not what my life is all about. I just want to encourage all those who are a Christian, to share their salvation experience to others," Pacquiao told CP. "I think that we could make an impact in this world. I'm not sure yet if I'm going to retire in 2016, but the legacy that I want to leave is to be a role model and an inspiration, not only the boxing fans, but to everyone around the world."

Kanye West Is Tired of Musicians Being Labeled 'Illuminati' Members; 'We Don't Run Anything, We're the Face of Brands,' Says Rapper

Kanye West is not amused by the jokes concerning celebrities being members of an alleged secret society known as the "Illuminati."
West, the 37-year-old rap mogul, recently opened up to Paper Magazine about people comparing the music streaming service Tidal, headed by rap mogul Jay Z, to the Illuminati. After an announcement was made that West, Rihanna, Beyoncé, Madonna, Nicki Minaj and Daft Punk would be co-owners of Tidal, some social media fans referred to its press conference as something that was associated with a secret society.
West denied the claims in a recent interview with Paper Magazine.
"I heard a comment -- a joke -- about the Tidal press conference being an Illuminati moment. If there was actually an Illuminati, it would be more like the energy companies not celebrities that gave their life to music and who are pinpointed as decoys for people who really run the world," West insisted when speaking with the publication. "I'm tired of people pinpointing musicians as the Illuminati. That's ridiculous."
He went on to defend celebrities from some people's perceptions of them being in cahoots with evil forces trying to take over the world.
"We don't run anything; we're celebrities. We're the face of brands," West said. "We have to compromise what we say in lyrics so we don't lose money on a contract."
He spoke about a number of things in the interview, including an enlightening moment when he went to the dentist and began to think deeply about life after being given nitrous gas for his procedure. West said the moment allowed him to see that there was no reason for him to expect to be compensated every time he gave to someone or made a contribution to society.
The rap mogul went on to further explain his point in the context of his Christian faith.
"I'm a Christian so I'll speak in Christian terms: God will give you tenfold. Then I said in my mind -- I'm still under the gas and getting my teeth cleaned -- But I just want to be remembered," West recalled to Paper magazine. " And I immediately corrected myself. I said, It doesn't even matter if I'm remembered."
On March 2, the entertainer spoke at Oxford University's Museum of Natural History. While speaking about his creative stream of consciousness, classicism and elitism, West also managed to speak about applying the Bible to his own life.
The rap mogul went on to call himself a servant and speak about his responsibilities as such.
"Understand that I'm a servant. And with my voice, with my ability to build relationships with amazing people, speak to amazing people," West said in the speech. "Call Elon Musk out of the blue, or call Obama out of the blue…he calls the home phone, by the way. With that, I have a responsibility to serve."

What Does "Correct Doctrine" Look Like? by Carolyn Henderson.

Wait for it.
If you're a Christian asking questions and, not satisfied with the answers you're being given, you start reading the Bible for yourself to see if what you're being taught is true, it won't take long before someone grabs you and says,
"You must stop being a rebel. If you stray from the teaching and direction of leadership, you're in danger of losing correct doctrine."

Correct doctrine -- it's the whip swung over the head of anyone who gets too far out of line, but rarely is the question asked,
"Just what, exactly, is correct doctrine?"

Statement of Faith
If it is the statement of faith made by one's particular denomination, then this quickly becomes a problem, because even in the most general of statements, there is variance, and that's among denominations that sort of, technically, agree. If a group of people from 15 different church entities took the gloves off and stated, baldly, correct doctrine from their standpoint, we would rapidly see the doughnuts and cheap coffee fly:

  • Do we speak in tongues, or not?

  • Is the communion bread Christ's actual body, or just symbolic of it?

  • Is the Sabbath on Sunday, or Saturday?

  • Is salvation permanent, or can it be lost?

  • Are people chosen, incontrovertibly, to be saved or damned, or do they have a say in this?

  • Must one utter actual specific words to be saved, or is it possible for someone to experience grace without them?

  • If one is of Hebrew descent, does one receive a free "get out of hell" free card simply for one's ancestors being such a significant part of the Old Testament?

No Global-Oneness Answers
These are all fairly weighty issues, many of them an essential part of one group or another's correct doctrine and vehemently defended by the experts, teachers, and leaders of that particular faith party. It quickly becomes obvious that if one ascribes to the "correct" answers of one denomination, one is in violation of the "right doctrine" of another.

So, perhaps "correct doctrine" is not so rigidly construed. Nor is it guaranteed that attending church is a mandatory element of finding it.
"Preach the Word," Paul tells Timothy in 2 Timothy 4:2-4. "Be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage -- with great patience and careful instruction."

Here's the kicker:
"For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear."
(Interestingly, my Greek interlinear Bible translates "sound doctrine" as "healthy teaching." This gives a different twist to the verse, one not quite so tightly wound.)

Unhealthy Teaching
Many of us can conjure up an instant mental list of "ministries" that fall into Paul's description, and they don't necessarily look, or act, like weird, flaky cults. These latter are (relatively) easy to identify; more difficult is pinning down precious points of precept that sound good, and are hammered in as truth, but are a little hazy in their verity. A good lie is one blended smoothly with a lot of truth (for an example, look at the subtle difference in wording between Satan's question to Eve in Genesis 3:1 and God's actual words in 2:16).

So what do our "itching ears want to hear"?
That we can all be rich, that every prayer we pray should be answered if we force God to do so by certain secret words, that our positive attitude affects our physical reality -- that, in short, we can be as gods.
I'm pretty sure that this is not what Paul means by "correct doctrine." Or healthy teaching.

More Unhealthy Teaching
Or how about this, a bit harsher:
That we must submit to every authority -- secular or religious -- because God demands it, that God is so focused on our sinful nature that He is repulsed by us, that we must prove our love and faith to Him first before He will love us, that He rejects people "living in sin" and wants nothing, at all, to do with them.

John chapters 14, 15, 16, and 17 record many of Jesus's words which should encourage us that we can, and He wants us to, have a secure, loving relationship with our Father the way He does.

Words of Grace
Indeed, if we are concerned about correct doctrine, or better yet, healthy teaching, we can start in no better place than this: that God is trustworthy, truthful, loving, gracious, kind, and desiring to have a close, intimate relationship with us.
And to learn more about this, we need nothing more than time with our Father: time reading His words, time reflecting upon His goodness, time getting it firmly through our heads that He is light with no darkness in Him at all, and He never acts in a random, irritable, unfair, demeaning, thoughtless manner -- the type of behavior we too frequently experience, and come to expect, from men.

"Forgive Them" by June Samuel

Our Lord Jesus is our example in every circumstance of life. When He was on the cross being pummeled with the hatred of men, and with the vitriol of hell, He said, Father, forgive them…..Why did Jesus ask His Father to forgive them? In the midst of intense hatred Jesus loved. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16. Jesus came to redeemed us back to our God. He died for us, so we can be forgiven.

That is why He calls upon us to love our enemies. In Matthew 5:44 our Lord said, ….“Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.” Love your enemies. It is only through God’s love that we can love our enemies, we can do good to those who hate us, we can bless those who curse us. It is only through God’s love that we can pray for those who use us, abuse us and persecute us. God’s love in us will enable us to love our enemies. The love of God has been shed abroad in our hearts by the HolySpirit.

We have no excuse not to love our enemies. To love our enemies is to forgive them.
It is the will of God that we love our enemies. Our Heavenly Father wants us to be like Him. He wants us to imitate Him as dear children. We have all seen children who remind us of one of their parents either through their bodily features or in their mannerisms. Some of us will say he or she is the image of his or her parent. Our heavenly Father desires to see Himself in us.

Our Father “makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust”. Matthew 5:45. God is good to all. God loves us. We were and many still are God’s enemies. Yet He sent His Son to die on Calvary’s cross to redeem us to Himself. God loves His enemies and so should we.

Love covers a multitude of sins. When we love, we will forgive. When we forgive our enemies, we will be able to pray for them according to God’s will. Many of God’s people are being persecuted around the world, and even here in the United States to some degree. We should pray for the persecuted believers and we should also pray for their persecutors. What should we pray? We should pray for deliverance and grace for the persecuted. Should we pray for our persecutor’s demise? We should pray for their salvation. We should pray that God would intervene in the persecution. “Vengeance is mine”, said the Lord. He will judge righteously.

Repay no one evil for evil …. Romans 12:17 If another believer in Christ wrongs you, pray for that person. God will judge His people. Hebrews 10:30. If unbelievers persecute you, pray for their salvation. “For their foot shall slip in due time; for the day of their calamity is at hand, Deuteronomy 32:35 Do not retaliate or try to correct the person or persons in wrath. Allow wrath to have its way. God will answer their wrath. God will respond. God knows and sees the situation in its entirety. “ It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the Living God” Hebrews 10:31. Leave the person(s), leave the situation to God. He will judge righteously.

“Therefore if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him drink; for in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.” Romans 12:20. Your enemy will feel uncomfortable, his/her conscience will bother him/her. He may repent of his evil deeds. She may even ask for your forgiveness. He will see the love of God in you. She will see your Father God in you, and this is what God desires.

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:21. Do not be a purveyor of evil. Do not continue the evil. Let the evil stop with your goodness, with your humility, with your confidence in God. Yes we will be upset by the evil, but let us pray. Do good to the person(s). Our Lord Jesus when He was on the cross asked His Father to forgive all those who had participated in his crucifixion. They were all forgiven instantly of their participation in His crucifixion, except Judas. He killed himself. He wanted no forgiveness.

It is the will of God that we love, pray for, and forgive our enemies.
